How to use MTN BIS on PC with Tweakware VPN or GatewayVPN

My last posted showed you how to auto connect your MTN BIS and VPN software to keep you online for longer periods of time. Yet some people need help setting up the BIS connection on their PC's. Below are the steps needed to get you online and browsing in no time.

Modem Configuration

  1. Create a new profile with the name MTN BIS
Click on Settings in the bottom right hand corner

Click the add button to create a new profile

Fill out the connection profile as seen above and press save.

  • Use blackberry.net as the APN.

  • Use *99# as  Access number

  • Username and password should be "web" or it can be left blank

  • Highlight the newly crated profile by clicking on it and then select apply and close

Subscribe to an MTN Blackberry plan
    • For 1 week plan, text BBCWEEK to 21600 - costs N 400
    • For 1 month plan, text BBC to 21600 - costs N 1,000
    • For 1 daily plan, text BBCDAY to 21600 - costs N 100

And before you ask, yes there is a data cap. But the good news is that it is about 3.5GB for all three of the packages so no matter which package you subscribe for you will get your 3.5GB data allowance. Personally i make use of the BBCDAY cause if you do the math it gives you over 100GB per month and for even a heavy downloader such as myself that's more than i can handle.  It will run you about 3K per month plus between N 500 and N1000 for a VPN service but its well worth it in my opinion. Also another benefit of BBCDAY is that you only pay on the days you need internet and in case the cheat gets blocked you have not flushed 1,000 down the drain.

Many VPN software have been proven to work but the two that I have personally used and can attest the them successfully working are Tweakware VNP and GatewayVPN.

You can download Tweakware VPN from their site using this link - Click Here

You can download Gateway VPN from their site using this link - Click Here

Go to the site and register for an account. If you need help getting a Premium account Voucher to activate your account comment below and i will help you out.

Set up VPN for use on PC

Both Tweakware and Gateway can be used successfully on PC's however only Tweakware can be used on Mobile phones.

Just OPEN Tweakware or GatewayVPN and input your username and password you just registered. Also make sure to install the TAP Win32 Drivers as seen below.

Press Connect and your good to go...good to go!!!!

Set up Tweakware VPN for Mobile Phones

    iPhone / iPad:

First of all go to AppStore, search for and install OpenVPN Connect.

After a successful installation, plug your iPhone/iPad to your PC and launch iTunes.

Navigate to the Apps installed on your phone and click on the OpenVPN Connect icon.

On the right hand side just beside the OpenVPN Connect, there should be a document box. Drag and drop the contents of the Tweakware VPN config files for iPhone/iPad which can be downloaded here.

Now on your iPhone/iPad, launch the OpenVPN Connect app that you have installed and you should now see the new configuration files that are waiting to be accepted, just press the "+" button on all of them and you're done.

Finally, select your favorite Tweakware VPN server from the list, enter your username and password and then connect.

Tip: you can turn on the save button below the username/password area to save your username for that server so you won't have to be manually typing it out everytime you want to connect to the VPN.

    Android:

First go to PlayStore, search for and install OpenVPN Connect.

Extract the contents of the Tweakware VPN config files for Android which can be downloaded here and copy them to your device storage media.

Launch OpenVPN Connect, tap Options > Import profile from SD card , then locate the config file(s) you have just copied to your device then click on Ok to alow OpenVPN Connect to save the profile. (do this for other configuration profiles).

Now go back to the OpenVPN Connect and select your favorite Tweakware VPN server from the list, enter your username and password and then connect.

      MTN BIS VPN Automation

      Hello All,

Today I will share a little script I made to help all those who use MTN BIS on their PC's for their browsing pleasure. If your like me and do lots of downloading then im sure you often get fustrated when you set up some files to download and then head to bed or work expecting to come home and find lots of downloaded goodies. Yet when you return you notice that the mtn connection was disconnected 5 minutes after you left. Well here is a method I created to solve this problem.

      Things you will need:

      1. Premium VPN software - I use Tweakware VPN but im sure you can use others such a GatewayVPN

      2. Active BIS Subscription - BBCDAY BBCWEEK or BBC to 21600

      3. Advanced Task Scheduler Professional (ATS Pro) - torrent available  click here

      4. AutoHotKey - http://www.autohotkey.com/

      5. My Script - Auto Connect Script

Step 1 - Install AutoHotKey and ATS Pro

Step 2 - Configure ATS Pro as Follows

Click on add new task then select the short-cut tab.

      Next Click on Insert Command

From the Shortcut Drop down menu select Launch Application and then browse to the location you saved the script to and select the script.

Press OK and then select the Schedule Tap
For the Schedule Type select RAS (connection)
Go to connection name and select the MTN BIS connection that you created

Create a schedule for both connection and disconnection  as seen in the picture above.

      Step 3 - Configure Reconnection

Click on network connections in the tray and click properties on the mtn bis connection

Go to the options tab and configure the settings as seen in the above image

      Step 4 - Connection Time

Now that everything is configured correctly it time to connect and stay connected.

DO NOT USE THE MTN FASTLINK SOFTWARE TO CONNECT

Instead open available networks from the right hand corner of the tray and select the mtn bis connection and click on connect.

When it connects you should see that Tweakware vpn connects automatically. And when it disconnects tweakware will also disconnect automatically. But since you have configured the modem to redial connection if dropped it will redial up to 20 times and reattempt connection. the problem before was that once the modem was disconnected even if tweakware was still active when the modem is reconnected it would not work unless tweakware is disconnected and reconnected. The script automates the disconnection and reconnection each time MTN BIS is connected or reconnected.

I use Tweakware and so the script only works with tweakware at the moment. Yet if you can understand simple code to a look at the script and edit it to press the connection button on your favourite VPN software.

If you need any help please comment below and lets get all of us to not only be connected but to stay connected.

      UPDATE:

Here is the script for those of you using Gateway VPN - GatewayVPN Script

If you use some other VPN software and need help getting it configured just comment and I can work on putting the script together for you.

      Thanks,
